SPARE'S achievement 2006
In 2006 SPARE has treated for free :
- 6.036 equines ( horses and donkeys)
- 3.116 farm animals ( Goats, sheeps, rabbits, cows, chicken and camels)
- Vaccined thousands of animals.
- Sterilized 1.858 dogs and cats and 7 donkeys.
- Gave for adoption 732 dogs and cats to loving families , 120 dogs and cats have been adopted in Europe especially in Germany where our friends there are checking on them.
- We have been donated a mobile clinic that goes to the poor areas where veterinary care is non existant , we treat very abused and very sick donkeys and horses.
We have now more than 180 animals in the shelter and outside it that we take care of, 120 in our shelter 35 cats in the garden of my building, 19 donkeys in our farm.
SPARE has also a second clinic that is the only spay and neuter clinic in Egypt, we catch the dogs and cats, sterilize them, give them vaccines and deworming and then we release them. We release them in SAKKAra where we live because it is the only place where the police and the veterinarians don't come to kill the strays, it is to far for them. WSPA has been financing this project for two years but wil stop in December 2007.
About the work
Our staff are: 7 workers, one manager and also chief veterinarian, 2 veterinarians, 2 accountants and a lawyer, we rent two pieces of land, and we spend for food, salaries, vaccines, medicine for the shelter, medicine for the mobile clinic, medicine for the outside patients vaccines, renting, sterilizations, more than 5 thousand US Dollars a month.
SPARE shelter is surviving with donations, (for the forst 4 years Amina and her huspand have financed it from their own pockets). SPARE would like to thank Shirley Brine form Australia who is helping us with her very generous donation and Philip Wollen from Australia who donated a lot to SPARE. These people are angels.
